What You’ll Need to Have: Qualifications Needed
  • Ability to understand stakeholder requirements and turn them into usable outputs efficiently
  • Ability to develop and communicate processes in a clear, concise, and logical manner
  • Strong drive and gravitas to enforce process adherence for team efficiency
Technical Skills
  • Strong data manipulation and interrogation skills
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly Excel (preferably at an advanced level) and Oracle
  • Solid working knowledge of OLAP tools such as Smartview
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting standards and processes
Practical Skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to balance high-level strategic thinking with detail orientation
  • Strong team player, willing to learn and drive initiatives forward
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively

Experience
  • Experience using Oracle systems (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience managing multi-site financial operations (essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain tight financial control
Qualifications and Education
  • Part-qualified or currently studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or ACA certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy
  • Familiarity with UK accounting practices preferred but not required, with strong knowledge of double-entry accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management accountant, financial analyst, or similar role

What You’ll Be Owning: Responsibilities
  • Respond to all queries promptly and professionally, and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Prepare monthly commentary to the required standard and quality for senior decision makers.
  • Prepare month-end accruals and prepayments with thorough analysis of general ledger figures and budgets.
  • Manage allocation models and ensure accurate allocation of costs to cost lines and cost centres.
  • Contact and liaise with other business functions and suppliers to gather additional information.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, incorporating proof of balances and clearing reconciling items promptly.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting of site-by-site and cost centre data, complying with internal and external requirements.
  • Produce monthly financial reviews, accurate profit and loss statements (P&Ls), and supporting schedules.
  • Work with the wider finance department to enforce tight cost controls and improve site-by-site P&L accuracy.
  • Prepare and distribute cost trackers to support cost control and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to simplify processes and implement improvements.
  • Assist in preparing overhead budgets within the designated timeframe, and liaise with business heads for review and approval.
  • Liaise with auditors, provide necessary information, and respond to audit queries.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks or projects as communicated by the line manager.
  • Train and support team members as required.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade of the role, as needed.
  • Provide financial analysis and decision support using timely and accurate P&Ls and additional reports to aid Finance, Operations, and Senior Management.
  • Prepare and submit accurate journals and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, clearing issues as necessary.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, and escalate risks and opportunities appropriately.
  • Report performance and provide financial reviews and analysis for the Leased Estate.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, enhance financial awareness, and proactively manage and communicate risks or opportunities.
  • Support Senior Finance Analysts and Finance Managers in driving data-based decision-making and commercial innovation.
  • Manage month-end processes, including:
  • Strictly adhering to reporting cut-offs and timetables
  • Preparing monthly analysis tools
  • Explaining and challenging all month-end cost variances against budget prior to Finance Manager review
