PURCHASING SUPERVISOR
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced Purchasing Supervisor to lead and manage the procurement functions within our fast-paced wine, spirits, and beverage distribution business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising purchasing operations, managing supplier relationships, ensuring optimal inventory levels, and maintaining cost-effective procurement processes while ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily purchasing activities and ensure timely procurement of products.
- Maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships; negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure product availability while avoiding overstocking or stockouts.
- Coordinate with the sales and warehouse teams to forecast demand and align purchasing schedules accordingly.
- Source new products, evaluate supplier performance, and conduct market research for best pricing and quality.
- Ensure accurate and timely creation of purchase orders and verify product deliveries and invoices.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to the purchasing of alcoholic beverages.
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate purchasing records and documentation.
- Lead, mentor, and train junior purchasing staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in the beverage, F&B, or FMCG industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and proven experience in vendor management.
- Knowledge of alcohol licensing, importation, and regulatory compliance is highly preferred.
- Proficient in purchasing or inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Advanced MS Excel and data analysis skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
