We are looking for a versatile and highly motivated Social Media and Communications Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for managing and enhancing our social media presence, creating compelling content, and executing effective PR strategies to build and maintain a positive public image.
The role combines expertise in social media management, content creation, and public relations to foster brand growth, community engagement, and media relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Social Media Strategy & Management:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to increase brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Create and curate high-quality, visually appealing content (graphics, videos, copy) that aligns with the brand’s voice and marketing objectives.
- Engage with followers, respond to comments and messages, and build meaningful relationships with online communities.
- Monitor social media trends, competitor activity, and emerging platforms to keep the brand’s social presence relevant and dynamic.
- Track, analyze, and report on social media performance, adjusting strategies based on data insights to optimize engagement.
- Public Relations (PR) Strategy & Execution:
- Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and pitch materials to secure media coverage for the company.
- Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets, and influencers to increase positive media exposure.
- Monitor media coverage, track PR metrics, and prepare reports on press mentions and overall media impact.
- Coordinate interviews, speaking engagements, and public appearances for executives or key stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of crisis communication strategies and help manage any negative media coverage or public relations challenges.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment between marketing, communications, and PR efforts.
- Internal Communications:
- Support internal communications initiatives, ensuring alignment with company culture, values, and goals.
- Draft internal newsletters, employee updates, and other communications to foster a transparent and engaging workplace environment.
- Content Creation & Brand Messaging:
- Maintain a consistent and engaging brand voice across all platforms, ensuring messaging is on point for both external and internal audiences.
- Assist in creating blog posts, thought leadership articles, and other content that supports public relations and media outreach efforts.
- Event & Campaign Support:
- Assist with the planning and promotion of events, webinars, product launches, or other brand-related initiatives, leveraging both social media and PR channels.
- Collaborate with external agencies or vendors as necessary for event promotion or PR activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in social media management, public relations, content creation, and/or communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives.
- Proven experience in managing social media platforms, and familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social).
- Solid understanding of PR strategies, media outreach, and relationship-building with journalists and influencers.
- Experience with press release writing, media pitching, and crisis communication management.
- Knowledge of SEO, social media advertising, and digital marketing.
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) or the ability to collaborate with design teams.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with video production or basic photography is a plus.
