The Check Clearing Clerk at the Cooperative Bank of Cebu is responsible for ensuring the smooth, accurate, and timely processing of all incoming and outgoing check transactions. This includes monitoring and reconciling check clearances and performing duties related to demand deposit account (DDA) operations.The role is critical in supporting daily operational integrity, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, verify, and process all check deposits and withdrawals, both inward and outward.
- Ensure timely and accurate clearing of checks in accordance with the Philippine Clearing House Corporation (PCHC) procedures.
- Encode and post check transactions into the bank’s core banking system.
- Monitor the daily status of check clearing and follow up on returned or dishonored checks.
- Process transactions related to demand deposit accounts (DDA), including deposits, withdrawals, stop payment orders, and statement requests.
- Assist in reconciling clearing suspense accounts and generating end-of-day reports.
- Maintain accurate transaction records and assist during internal and external audits.
- Coordinate with the head office, branches, and other financial institutions regarding clearing discrepancies or issues.
- Ensure compliance with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) regulations and internal bank policies.
Job Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Graduate in Banking, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- At least six (6) months of experience in banking operations or cash handling, preferably in check clearing or demand deposit management.
- The personnel handling demand deposit operations must have attended appropriate seminars, workshops, or on-the-job training, or have at least six (6) months of relevant experience in demand deposit account processing.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of bank clearing processes and BSP/PCHC guidelines.
- Familiarity with core banking systems and basic Microsoft Excel.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- Good communication and ability to work under pressure.
- Team-oriented, customer-focused, and proactive in problem-solving.
