Job Summary:
An Interior Designer creates functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing spaces by planning and organizing the design of interiors, working with clients to understand their needs, and overseeing the design process from concept to completion.They are responsible for selecting colors, lighting, and materials, as well as ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
Job Description:
Design Development:
- Create initial design concepts and present ideas to clients.
- Develop detailed plans, elevations, and specifications using design software and drawings.
Space Planning:
- Assess and analyze client space to optimize functionality and flow.
- Plan layouts that consider traffic patterns, furniture placement, and aesthetic appeal.
Budget Management:
- Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring client specifications are met within financial constraints.
- Obtain cost estimates and negotiate with suppliers and contractors.
Documentation:
- Maintain project documentation, including contracts, communications, and progress reports.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Collaboration with Other Professionals:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure design feasibility and compliance with building codes.
- Coordinate with tradespeople for the execution of design plans.
Project Management:
- Oversee project timelines and deliveries.
- Ensure the quality of workmanship and compliance with design specifications during implementation.
Client Presentations:
- Present design plans and revisions to clients and stakeholders.
- Revise designs based on client feedback and preferences.
Site Visits and Inspections:
- Conduct site visits during construction to ensure that the design is executed correctly.
- Address any issues that arise during the project’s execution.
Sustainability Practices:
- Incorporate sustainable design practices and materials into projects where possible.
Requirements:
- At least a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or any related field
- Five (5) years experience in design, development and project supervision of development works for building interiors, spaces, fixtures and furniture for retail commercial establishments.
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Sketch-up and 3D rendering programs; preparation of material take-off, cost estimates and technical reports
- Computer Literate, particularly in CAD, Sketch-up, 3D Rendering programs, Design and Estimate, Agile Project Management, Vendor management, Highly analytical, good communication skills and has strong sense of color, texture and design trends.
