Senior AU Tax Accountant - Team Lead (AU Accounting Firm, Hybrid)
Salary: P120,000 to P130,000 (Monthly Package)
Schedule: Monday – Friday (06:30 AM - 03:30 PM PHT)
What are we looking for?- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA, CA, or equivalent certification required.
- Experience with accounting and tax software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks)
- 5+ years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on Australian clients and ATO compliance.
- 2+ years leadership experience, including team coordination and performance management.
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax laws, including GST, FBT, PAYG, BAS, and corporate tax.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for managing client relationships and team collaboration
What will you do?
The Senior Tax Accountant (Team Lead) is responsible for managing complex tax compliance and advisory services for Australian clients while leading a team of tax professionals. This role involves reviewing tax returns, ensuring ATO compliance, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining strong client relationships.The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Australian tax laws and experience with tax software like Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks.
Tax Compliance & Reporting- Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts in line with ATO requirements.
- Ensure compliance with GST, FBT, PAYG withholding, and income tax obligations.
- Oversee the timely preparation and lodgement of quarterly and annual BAS.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ATO guidelines and ensure consistent application across client work.
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports in compliance with Australian accounting standards.
- Analyze financial data and provide strategic insights to support clients’ tax and business decisions.
- Lead monthly and year-end financial close processes and ensure timely reconciliations of financial accounts.
- Serve as the primary contact for ATO communications, resolving queries, managing notices of assessment, and handling disputes.
- Support and manage ATO audits, including preparation and submission of required documentation.
- Provide proactive tax planning strategies and advisory services to clients, aiming to optimize tax positions while ensuring compliance.
- Research and interpret changes in tax legislation, rulings, and guidance, assessing their impact on client obligations and opportunities.
- Lead and mentor a team of tax and accounting professionals across locations.
- Collaborate closely with both the Australian and offshore teams, ensuring seamless communication and workflow integration.
- Set performance goals, conduct reviews, and foster a culture of accountability and professional development.
- Evaluate and enhance tax compliance and accounting processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Recommend and implement technology solutions and tools that support automation and improved reporting
- Perform ad-hoc financial duties and projects as needed.
