Materials procurement officer

Job Description

• Source and procure raw materials, machinery parts, and consumables needed for steel production.
• Analyze market trends and raw material costs to support budgeting and cost control.
• Translate and interpret technical specifications, contracts, and communications between English and Mandarin.
• Monitor stock levels and forecast material requirements based on production schedules.
• Conduct price and supplier evaluations to ensure cost-effective and reliable sourcing.
• Ensure all purchases comply with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.
• Handle import documentation, customs coordination, and international shipping arrangements when required.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and finance teams to ensure alignment on material specifications and budgets.

• Fluent in both English and Mandarin (spoken and written) – required.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor negotiations, and international trade practices.
• Proficient in using ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and procurement software.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience handling import documentation, logistics coordination, and customs compliance is a plus.
