The candidate will manage 1-2 Agile Scrum teams each with 5-6 Full Stack Software Engineers, a shared Scrum Lead, and other cross-functional partners. This candidate will have HR responsibility for the members of their team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Manage a team of 6 to 8 Software Engineers and Agile Practitioners.
- Development: Participate in all phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, application design, code development, and testing with a focus on Java and/or Golang or similar languages.
- Pipeline Ownership: Own the build/deploy/release process and find ways to automate and improve our pipeline at every step.
- Design and Architecture: Design reusable components, frameworks, and libraries.
- Code Review: Review code and provide feedback relative to best practices and improving performance.
- Agile Methodology: Participate in Agile / Scrum / Kanban methodologies to deliver high-quality software releases every 2 weeks.
- Mentorship: Mentor and guide other software engineers within the team.
- Innovation: Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will enable team velocity.
- Collaboration: Collaborate on the design with other team members and product owners, both inside and outside the scrum team.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code meets coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability, and maintainability guidelines.
- Compliance: Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies, and procedures, and any directives related to work location, team changes, work shifts, flexibility of work benefits, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions due to the changing business environment.
What skills/attributes are a must have:
- Production Software: 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software in a scaled distributed environment, preferably in public cloud (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Engineering Management: 5+ years of experience managing software engineers, agile practitioners, performing software engineering, using Git, automated testing frameworks, and relational databases. Experience handling projects using the following tech stacks: Full stack and UX Engineers, Native Coding on mobile platforms, React/React Native experience.
- Full Stack Development: Experience with Full Stack Development (Java, Golang) or similar languages.
- Database Experience: Experience with relational databases, NoSQL databases, and Docker (Microsoft SQL Server & DynamoDB preferred).
- AI Integration: Knowledge and experience in integrating AI technologies into software engineering processes and products. Ability to leverage AI for improving development workflows, enhancing product features, and optimizing team performance.
- Agile Frameworks: 5+ years of experience handling projects using different Agile frameworks such as Scrum, SAFe, LeSS, etc.
- Communication: Proven excellence in technical communication with peers and non-technical colleagues.
- Commitment: Commitment to quality, performance, and efficiency.
Nice to Have:
- Healthcare domain background is a plus
- Deep understanding of industry patterns for application architecture and integration
- Familiar with Observability tools like Datadog, Grafana, or Splunk in creating system alarms and dashboards for system and application monitoring.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow in managing Production incidents and OnCall support.
