Job Overview:
A Site Engineer is responsible for managing and supervising construction projects on-site. This involves coordinating with contractors, architects, and other engineers, ensuring that work is performed according to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.They are typically the main point of contact between the construction team and the higher management or clients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Site Supervision and Management:
Supervise daily operations on-site for both horizontal and vertical construction projects.
Ensure all construction activities are being carried out as per the approved plans, specifications, and schedules.
Manage and oversee construction teams, subcontractors, and laborers, ensuring productivity and high-quality workmanship.- Coordination with Project Stakeholders:
Act as the primary point of contact between project managers, engineers, subcontractors, clients, and suppliers.
Coordinate with the design and technical team to resolve technical issues and maintain project schedules.
Ensure smooth communication between all parties to avoid delays or confusion during construction.- Quality Control and Assurance:
Conduct regular site inspections and checks to ensure that construction work meets the required quality standards and specifications for both horizontal and vertical construction.
Enforce quality control procedures and ensure compliance with the project’s design and legal requirements (e.g., building codes, environmental regulations).
Ensure materials used on-site meet the quality standards and verify they are delivered and stored properly.- Safety Management:
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols on-site to minimize accidents and hazards for all personnel.
Monitor and implement the safety plan, conduct toolbox talks, and lead safety inspections to ensure compliance with local and national construction safety standards.
Ensure that workers are provided with the necessary protective equipment and are trained in safety procedures.- Planning and Scheduling:
Assist in the preparation of work schedules and ensure that activities are being carried out on time.
Monitor progress, identify potential delays, and propose solutions to avoid project hold-ups.
Review construction plans and schedules to confirm that timelines are being met for both horizontal and vertical projects.- Cost Management and Resource Allocation:
Monitor project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment, and assist in maintaining the project within budget.
Ensure efficient allocation of resources, including materials, manpower, and equipment, across the site for both horizontal and vertical projects.
Track material usage and ensure that resources are used optimally to avoid wastage.- Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of site activities, including daily progress reports, material usage, and labor deployment.
Submit regular reports on construction progress, challenges, safety incidents, and other relevant updates to project managers.
Ensure proper documentation of permits, approvals, and any changes in scope or project plans.- Problem Solving and Issue Resolution:
Identify potential issues on-site, whether related to design, materials, or labor, and proactively address them.
Work closely with engineers and designers to find practical solutions to site-specific challenges, ensuring the smooth continuation of construction activities.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Other relevant degrees may be considered for specialized roles in construction.
- Licensed Civil Engineer (PRC-licensed) is preferred. Those without a license may be considered based on their experience and competency in site engineering.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in site engineering, with hands-on experience in both horizontal (infrastructure, roads, utilities, bridges) and vertical (residential, commercial, and institutional buildings) construction projects.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects or supervising multiple small to medium-sized projects simultaneously.
- Experience in managing the entire construction process, from planning to execution and completion.
Technical Skills:
- Construction Techniques and Methods: Strong knowledge of both horizontal and vertical construction techniques, materials, and methodologies.
- AutoCAD and BIM Software: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for reviewing and preparing site plans and designs.
- Project Management Tools: Familiarity with software for project scheduling and resource management (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Structural and Civil Engineering Principles: Understanding of civil and structural systems, including foundations, frameworks, and structural load analysis.
- Knowledge of Local Codes and Regulations: In-depth knowledge of the Philippines' building codes (e.g., National Building Code of the Philippines), environmental regulations, and safety standards.
Soft Skills:
- Leadership and Team Management: Ability to lead and motivate construction teams, subcontractors, and laborers to ensure high productivity and quality.
