WHAT IS A FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT?

This is a broad-based Financial Accounting role. The objective of the role is to produce and provide accurate and meaningful finance data to business partners, be in control of Australian company store accounting and compliance, and accounting system support.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES?

Financial Accounting and internal control lead
  • Own the client's legal entity accounting, ensuring accuracy of actuals in line with IFRS. The client's legal entity is Australian entity which owns company stores across Australia.
  • Investigate any abnormal accounting entry and work directly with ANZ teams to ensure matters are investigated and resolved timely manner. Investigate underlying issue and propose improvement plan.
  • Monitor stock count, cash float and other store related variances and follow up with Store managers or Sales coordinator where necessary.
  • Understand the features of POS software, including tracking cash movements from the cash float and register closures.
  • Represent Finance as the POS Finance superuser on business projects, POS Interface to JDE and Data Warehouse and other business initiatives.
  • Develop and manage finance process for new store set up /store closure.
  • Continuous improvement of store accounting process and internal controls. Be curious and proactive in continuous improvement.
Month End Contribution
  • Ensure allocated month end journals and responsibilities are accurate and completed on time.
  • Board report and management report preparation.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and work directly with relevant team to streamline processes.
  • Accounting for Australian legal entities. Ensure accurate actual accounting in line with IFRS.
  • Preparation of monthly cashflow for AUS and USA.
  • Finance partner for overhead BU’s. Support with actual analysis and budgets/forecasting.
CAPEX/Fixed Asset Register
  • Manage CAPEX function globally, ANZ, USA, China, EU and HK
  • Responsible for global Fixed Asset Register. Ensure Fixed Assets are capitalised in line with IFRS and accurate depreciation rates are used. Process additions and disposals of assets.
  • Review and ensure the CAPEX is up to date, including initiation of Asset count and clean up.
  • Develop internal controls and policies for CAPEX.
  • Support local subsidiary teams with CAPEX queries.
Pricing Help Desk
  • Action Pricing HelpDesk requests in a timely manner (e.g. price uploads).
  • Understand the pricing process, pricing calculation and sense check pricing calculation accuracy when the upload is requested
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • CPA/CA qualified or nearing completion.
  • 4+ years’ experience in similar Financial Accounting role or Big 4 accounting firm in auditing similar organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting and IFRS.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English.
  • Strong financial communication skills, with ability to communicate complex financial matters to non-finance colleagues in simple terms.
  • Always curious and ability to think in big picture while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret the business activities in financial accounting perspective and able to practically apply into accounting.
  • Result oriented and ability to work to deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to manage the workload in fast paced environment and prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to work as a team and comfortable to work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines/ Ability to prioritise.
  • Analytical thinking with proven problem-solving capability
  • Business partnering skills with ability to support the business unit owners proactively, in timely budget preparation and looking for opportunities to improve profit/loss.
  • Change management skills, ability to adopt in changes.
  • Skilled in Microsoft office suite of software.
